44th LD: Lovick, Berg voted for Washington Cares tax
Published 1:30 am Wednesday, November 2, 2022
Were you aware that both Sen. John Lovick and Rep. April Berg approved the Washington Cares Fund which will tax your wages 58 cents for every $100 of wages?
Gov. Jay Inslee delayed its implementation until July 1, 2023.
When confronting Lovick about this “income tax,” his response is that it’s just like Social Security. Not true. If one moves from the state, the benefit, if one can call it that, doesn’t go with the person who paid the tax. He assured me it was going to be reviewed and rewritten. No, it should be abolished since it’s a tax based on income, and our state constitution prohibits income tax.
It’s unfortunate Lovick spent more time trying to get pickleball approved as a state sport than fully understanding the poorly written Washington Cares Act. It’s doubtful April Berg fully understood the bill when she approved, also approved it.
With Lovick and Berg approving this tax on your wages, how long will it be before they move to impose a full income tax on their constituents? Vote against both of them.
