Arlington shouldn’t use utility fee for EMS needs

Regarding the proposed $15 utility fee increase to support Arlington’s medical emergency services:
I am certainly in favor of sufficient emergency medical services and public safety for the city of Arlington. However, I am not in favor of the $15-a-month additional fee to be added to my water bill to fund this. I am already paying double my water usage to fund the sewer system. If I water my lawn, that extra water adds to the sewer side. The water is not going down the sewer! It is staying on my lawn and garden areas. This unfair way of calculating water usage to sewer ratio needs to be reconfigured, particularly in the months when Mother Nature does the watering.
I believe the city council has already made the decision to tack on this extra $15 fee. This is reminiscent of my attending the state’s meeting prior to building the roundabout at Highway 9 and 172nd. That decision to build had already been made and the meeting was just a feel-good attempt to let the citizens think they had any input.
I vote “no” on this $15 tax.
