Block watchers are alert to stop crime

Your Feb. 1 story about Sheriff John Lovick’s plan to step up outreach efforts was well worth printing. This is an excellent idea that will benefit all law-abiding citizens in Snohomish County.

We have had a Block Watch Program on our street for many years and it works. Our Block Watch Program has helped the Sheriff’s Department make several arrests.

I urge Snohomish County citizens to contact the Sheriff’s Department to find out how they can organize a Block Watch Program in their area. We all need to “be alert” to stop crime.
