In the upcoming primary election, there will be a number of races at stake throughout the county. None is more important than the race for the office of Snohomish County executive. We have been served ably for the past 12 years by our current executive, Bob Drewel. During those 12 years Snohomish County grew at an unprecedented rate, increasing the demand for services by its citizens.

We are now faced with the opportunity to select someone who has the experience, maturity and insight to lead us through the next four years and beyond. We are fortunate to have more than one good candidate in the race, but if we look at the experience of each individual and consider them in the light of the responsibilities of this office, one emerges as the person best ready to take on the responsibilities of county executive – Dave Earling.

A former community college instructor, successful businessman, Edmonds city councilman, Earling also has represented our transportation interests on both the Community Transit and Sound Transit boards for more than a decade. He has spent countless hours in Olympia and Washington, D.C., with members of both political parties to assure funding for needed transportation projects. As a city councilman he faces the same issues of public safety, parks and recreation, public works and the funding needed for them. He knows what Snohomish County requires in the way of leadership and action as county executive.

Finally, Dave Earling’s commitment to Snohomish County is second to none whether he’s working on transit issues or raising funds for the Edmonds Public Schools. He cares, he’s committed and he’s experienced. Join me and others from all political affiliations and walks of life and elect Dave Earling Snohomish County executive.
