Governments should audit, find savings before raising taxes

It’s no surprise the state of Washington is becoming one of the least affordable places to retire. Everything under the sun is being taxed. Folks on fixed income feel it the most, but anymore, most of us are feeling the pinch.
What we seldom see before our cities, county or the state raise our taxes, ask for bonds, levies, or tax cap increases; are performance audits.
Can we be more efficient? Is there a program or position that is sitting idle or is redundant? Teams and Skype surely use less fuel than commuting to meetings.
It’s there if one looks for it. Like a running toilet, nickel and dimes down the drain. And then, if progress requires additional funding, it might sound more reasonable.
