Kamiak Show Band reflects the best in kids

We are very fortunate to have excellent academic, arts and special education programs in our Snohomish County schools. We often see and read in the press about increasing test scores and are kept informed on how we compare statewide. We should take the opportunities to highlight the achievements of our kids because in general they are doing a great job.

One such group is the Kamiak Show Band and Color Guard. This group recently took first place at the Puget Sound Festival of Bands and was the Sweepstakes winner at the Yakima Harvest Festival of Bands. This 210-member group is one of the best marching bands in the state. These kids practice hours each week in all weather conditions and then travel to competitions that last all day and into the night. Besides great formations and music, these are just good kids committed to being the best they can, and it shows. The band experience isn’t just about music and marching – it is about giving kids the opportunity to be the best and having fun in the process.
