Gough deserves re-election

We have been fortunate to have Don Gough as our mayor throughout the last term. Mayor Gough has managed our city well in so many ways and I think he well deserves re-election. He decentralized management of our city with well-qualified department heads, selected and charged with delivering quality services to the citizens of Lynnwood. Mayor Gough has been instrumental in the development of a vision for the city that includes seven core statements, and he has worked to see that this vision and the core statements are implemented by the operations of the city departments.

One example of Mayor Gough’s leadership is seen in the new water park that opened July 18. This water park replaced an old park with hazardous playground equipment and provided the citizens of Lynnwood with a new, functional and safe park which will be enjoyed by citizens for years to come.

Cities are being challenged in unprecedented ways by the current economy, where reduced revenues result in reductions in city services and city resources. Lynnwood has weathered these challenges well when compared to other jurisdictions throughout the country. A lot of credit for this must be given to Mayor Gough and the department heads he has appointed. I think Mayor Gough deserves our support and our vote.
