Lewis Carroll was exactly right about inspiring confidence

Aha! I finally read something that helped me to understand how Trump got nominated and then got voted into the presidency, along with so many others who got voted into office, both Democrats and Republicans. It’s so simple, I can’t believe I didn’t think about it until The Herald’s Jan. 14 “Thought for Today”:

“If you want to inspire confidence, give plenty of statistics — It does not matter that they should be accurate, or even intelligible, so long as there is enough of them.” Lewis Carroll, English author, 1832-1898. (Think “Alice in Wonderland.”)
