During the first year and a half of the covid19 pandemic, I was surprised by how many people signed up to donate blood at the Red Cross blood drives we hosted. Within days of the drives being published, they were full.
Somehow that changed late this summer. The drive we held in September only brought in slightly over half the donations we had previously. What was very surprising was the number of people who signed up but didn’t show. I later heard that had become more common around the state.
I would like to strongly encourage people to continue to donate blood as often as they can. The need is still high. While we’re all tired of the stress covid brought, we need to keep our eyes on the goal of helping our neighbors by continuing to provide lifesaving blood. It’s a small activity that makes a huge difference.
Thank your for your generous help.
