In regard to the Feb. 7 story, “Emerson adds Island County to lawsuit“:
I am appalled at Kelly Emerson’s` arrogance and attitude. What qualified her to be a county commissioner when she will be defending the county against people doing what she is doing?
She claims a building department employee was trespassing on her property. Hello … that’s his job to post a red flag to any job that is violating the building code and therefore breaking the law, which they obviously were doing. He gave them a chance to comply, which for four months they ignored because they were just too busy. You should know red flags do not go away.
As for her opponent who turned her in, he was doing what anyone could and should do when someone is breaking the law.
She obviously has some wetland issues which she should know require different inspections and permits. This was also ignored even after she had a chance to correct it.
Normal procedures are for a licensed, bonded and insured contractor to operate with a permit and inspections. “Hello,” again, these inspections are for you, the public, so you know the work was done properly.
I am a retired remodeling contractor who did things the proper way to protect my customers.
It’s easy to save money if you don’t buy permits or pay sales tax unless something goes wrong. Is it worth it?
