Regarding the Aug. 26 letter, “Wackiness needed to appeal to kids?”: The writer is missing the point. The people who are doing the “wackiness” are doing a great service, and enjoying it, and so are the children. So many children, and adults too, do not like to read. Plus, so many kids are pushed through school who can’t read or write.
There’s great joy seeing a child enjoying a book he picked out and can read! So I say, keep up the “wackiness” if it does good, which it obviously does!
