I have recently read many appeals in our county for school bond support. Presently, Washington state residents are among the most heavily taxed in the country.
There are even more taxes being proposed at this time by state and local governments. This is the primary reason getting folks to support school bonds is an uphill battle. Would it be a more effective strategy to press our representatives, state and local, to not only stop raising taxes, especially property taxes, but to reduce the present tax burden of our citizens?
I believe that our youth are the future of our communities and country, and they need a better environment for learning. Pleading with voters to support bonds might not be as effective as lowering the tax burden on families. Please contact your representatives.
