Thrilling ride to top of Space Needle before opening in 1962

My husband and friend worked construction on Seattle’s Worlds Fair. Both iron workers, my husband on the Opera House, his friend on the Space Needle. The night before the opening, we two couples were down at the site. Well, our friend happened to have the key to the construction elevator and said, “Do we want to ride to the top of the Space Needle?” Of course! Wow, what a ride. I was terrified of heights! Came down safely. We will be married 61 years on Oct. 21 2022!
