Too many need help here at home to send money overseas

Humanity has faced some serious challenges over the last decade or so; global warming, over population, natural disasters, crazy politicians, recessions and the covid-19 pandemic. None of these issues have been solved or resolved. And now war in Europe., a horrible situation; and I think our troops will be involved before too long. Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, we never learn.

But I want to address our government spending. If this country is trillions in debt, where is all this money for foreign aid coming from?

Is our government ignoring the citizens of this country, how many people in the United States must be homeless before the government steps in? We send billions in aid to other countries. Think it could be better spend helping the people who have worked and paid taxes.

I have lived in Everett for over 30 years and would like to stay in the general area. I have lost my home and need to move. My only income is my Social Security, which is under $1,600 a month; I have found very few places, a low-income senior apartment complexes I could afford. They both told me I need to have a monthly income, three times the monthly rent.

Where are we headed, capitalism? The citizens of the United States need to communicate with their state representatives, tell them about the homeless in your area, the outrageous prices to find a decent place to live for a reasonable price. Start with your local representatives and don’t let them off the hook, make them accountable to do what their job demands for their people.

See you on the streets real soon.
