I keep reading with much interest about the restrictions lawmakers who want to impose on gun owners who do not break the law. I am speaking of House Bill 2947.
I legally purchased my firearms with background checks. I have owned firearms for 55 years never breaking the law. I understand a feel-good idea, however I believe they should enforce laws on the books to prosecute the law breakers ie: the recent gang shooting that left one dead and several injured in Seattle. These were people who should have been in jail instead of on the street.
Was there a legally owned firearm involved? I think not. Lawmakers need to do the job we elected them to do and leave law-abiding citizens alone. Lawmakers know this but still refuse to enforce laws we already have or pass the ones to keep those off the street who have no business being on the street.
I would rather pay more for jails than restrict those of us who are law-abiding folks than to keep penalizing those who do not break the law. All one has to do is look nationwide at the crime statistics ie: Chicago, Baltimore and others where gangs are the problem.
What is next? Will some liberal think we should not have the right to buy a certain kind of car or house! Enforce the laws on the books\.
