What has happened to the Washington State Patrol? Is there still a WSP? You couldn’t tell if there is by driving on I -5. It is not a freeway anymore; it’s a speedway.
What I have seen over the last few months is that there is no enforcement of anything close to the speed limits posted. The new norm is not the 60 mph posted. If you are going just the speed limit, you are a highway hazard. I guess the new implied speed limit is 70 mph minimum to 80 mph plus.
No matter how fast over the limit you are going, there is alway someone aggressively on your tail to get you to move over or they are recklessly weaving in and out of lanes just to go faster. Yet there is no enforcement of anything close to the speed limit. Why is that?
Once the WSP tolerates excessive speeding, at what speed then do they actually stop someone? And how can they stop someone for speeding and aggressive driving after ignoring the situation for so long? And I confess that now, as soon as I get on the freeway, I start out at 70 mph and when traffic comes up and tailgates me, I just step on the throttle a little bit more. There is not one person who drives the I-5 speedway can disagree with this letter.
