Why neuter cats to let them starve?

Thursday’s article about feral cats was very interesting to me — and quite disconcerting. We are cat lovers and, over the years, have taken many animals that were dumped on our property to PAWS. They have told us that the biggest problem for these animals is starvation.

So, why is it more humane to neuter these feral animals and return them back to the wild where they can wreak havoc on birds and small wildlife only to ultimately die of starvation and disease?

There has to be some other — better — way. Euthanasia may seem cruel, but death due to starvation and disease is a lot more painful and ugly.
