Every day, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County help transform the lives of thousands of young people by offering a safe, welcoming space where they can learn, grow and dream big. Through programs that span academic support to athletic activities, the organization helps children excel both in school and in life.
“Our mission wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our donors, partners, and volunteers,” says Brian Harrington, Director of Resource Development. This year alone, the Boys & Girls Clubs served more than 25,000 children and provided over 1.5 million nutritious meals, ensuring no child in their care goes hungry. Many clubs even serve dinner, a vital resource for families experiencing food insecurity.
In addition to meals, the Boys & Girls Clubs offer enriching programs such as STEM education, which provided more than a million hours of instruction this year. These programs give kids access to top-tier computer labs and resources, promoting academic success and fostering a love for learning.
“Parents often tell us how much it means to know their children have a safe place to be themselves, where they’re supported and inspired to succeed,” Harrington explains. “From academic tutoring to recreational activities, we ensure each child gets the personalized attention they need to thrive.”
As the holidays approach, the Boys & Girls Clubs strengthen their ties with the community. Local businesses and donors step up through initiatives like giving trees and holiday family adoption programs, bringing hope to families in need. “When you give to the Boys & Girls Clubs, you’re not just helping today — you’re investing in the future of Snohomish County,” Harrington says.
For nearly 80 years, the organization has been a cornerstone of the community, now operating 27 clubs across the county. Recent expansions include enhanced teen services, offering a safe space with extended evening and weekend hours. One standout program is Youth of the Year, which celebrates young leaders and prepares them for success. “This program equips kids with essential skills like public speaking and interviewing while earning scholarships for their education,” Harrington says. Some participants even compete nationally, with the top winner honored at the White House.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County invite the community to get involved—whether by donating, volunteering, or spreading the word. Together, they aim to create a brighter future, one child at a time.
