PASCO – Sloppy play by the Everett AquaSox led to a 6-1 loss against the Tri-City Dust Devils in Northwest League action at Dust Devil Stadium Saturday night.
Everett (22-24 overall) committed three errors, had three wild pitches and a passed ball, which the Dust Devils (24-22) converted into three unearned runs.
Everett broke a 14-inning scoreless streak in the top of the sixth inning when Bryan Sabatella hit a one-out triple. Manelik Pimentel followed with a single to score Sabetella and forge a 1-1 tie.
Then AquaSox defense failed them.
Tri-City’s Jeff Kindell led off the bottom of the sixth by reaching on a fielding error by second baseman Dean Zorn. Kindell then advanced to second on one of AquaSox starting pitcher Michael Schilling’s three wild pitches.
Daniel Moyora followed with a walk and Bret Berglund advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt.
After Everett reliever Andrew Fiorenza intentionally walked Brian Aguailar to load the bases with one out, Tri-City’s Josh Branda hit a ground ball right at third baseman Leury Bonilla, who stepped on third for the force out and then threw the ball past first baseman Pimentel for his 12th error of the season. Kindell and Aguailar both scored to give the Dust Devils a 3-1 edge.
Schilling pitched five innings, gave up four hits, hit a batter, and had three wild pitches to fall to 3-6 on the season.
The Dust Devils added two more runs in the seventh and another run in the eighth to reach the final tally.
