Washington Stealth goaltender Tyler Richards was named the National Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Richards made 52 saves on 60 shots in the Stealth’s 10-8 road victory over the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday.
Richards, who had his best performance of the season after missing the first three games because of a lower body injury, is starting to get back to the form that made him arguably one of the league’s top goaltenders last season while leading the Stealth to the Champion’s Cup (along with fellow goalie Matt Roik).
The Stealth currently sit at 3-3 overall and have a home-and-home series against Edmonton this weekend. Washington is in Edmonton on Friday before heading to Everett on Saturday.
