SNOHOMISH — It was a momentous senior night for the Snohomish baseball team on Wednesday as it knocked off Lake Stevens 6-5 at Snohomish High School and secured no worse than a tie for the Wesco North title and the division’s No. 1 seed into the 4A District 1 playoffs.

A six-run second inning provided all of the runs for the home-team Panthers, who broke out of a tie with Lake Stevens for first place in the league standings.

The two teams meet again today at Cavelero Mid-High in Lake Stevens in the final regular season contest for both. However, Snohomish already holds the tiebreaker over Lake Stevens by virtue of its wins in the first two games of the series.

The Snohomish offense was highlighted by performances from seniors Zach Grundl, who batted 1-for-2 with two RBI, and Brady Christian, who was 1-for-2. Jake Taubenheim added two RBI for Snohomish, finishing 2-for-3.

Ryan Larivee got the start and the win on the mound for Snohomish in six innings of pitching, giving up five runs, eight hits, two walks and striking out seven.

JT Cox was 2-for-3 and hit a home run for Lake Stevens and teammate Matt Sweeney batted 2-for-4.
