LYNDEN -- King's linebacker Jon Hockman sacked Lynden quarterback Josh Kraght with 10 seconds remaining, taking the steam out of a potential game-tying drive and securing the 42-39 win for the Knights in a nonleague clash with the defending 2A champs.
The high-scoring game was close the whole way, with both teams seemingly scoring at-will for most of the first half, according to King's director of football operations Sam Roach.
Kraght threw for two touchdowns and rushed 25 times for 129 yards and 2 TDs, while King's Billy Green was 20-for-29 for 270 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.
"Kraght was the key, we had to stop him," said Roach.
King's was still figuring out how in the fourth quarter, when Kraght scored his two passing TDs, and if Jenkins hadn't brought him down in the final seconds, the Knights may have had overtime to keep trying.
On defense, King's Caleb Taylor had eight solo tackles and two assists, Jonathan Hoffman had eight solo tackles and three assists and Chris Jenkins had six assists.
