Cascade’s depth leads tennis win over Snohomish

SNOHOMISH – The Cascade boys tennis team’s top three singles players lost their matches against Snohomish on Wednesday, but the rest of the team saved the day.

The Bruins won their No. 4 singles match and all three of their doubles matches to claim a 4-3 victory over Snohomish.

Justin Stevens, Jake Holderman, and J.J. Vancil won their matches for Snohomish – it just wasn’t enough.

“Our top three guys got the job done,” Snohomish coach Dick Jansen said. “They did what they needed to do.”

Snohomish lost all three doubles matches, but each went to three sets.

“We were real fortunate to get this one,” Cascade coach Bob Martin said.

  • Shorewood 6, Edmonds-Woodway 1: Shorewood’s No. 2 doubles team of Mark Nichols and Keith Schneider defeated Edmonds-Woodway’s Nathan Quigley and Eli Shields 6-3, 6-0 at the Wesco 4A meet.
