Age: 53

Occupation: Family nurse practitioner in Snohomish County for 22 years; health care provider for Marysville City Jail.

Political experience: On board of state nurse practitioners’ organization. Representative of Washington State Nurses Association on the Technical Advisory Group for the Health Care Authority.

Work experience: Owner, manager and CEO of several businesses in Snohomish County. Teacher in Grants Pass, Ore., 1978-1979. Clinical instructor at University of Washington.

Personal experience: Certificate in medical management from the UW.

Top 3 issues: 1. Student test scores and academic standards in Marysville need to be improved because local industries require a better-educated workforce. 2. Taxpayers should expect more from the $82 million annual school budget. 3. Improved long-range planning so resources are available for a quality education.

Why voters should pick me: There is a need to create an educational environment that allows the school board to do long-range planning – one that leaves the superintendent to administer the district. With an effective superintendent and a board that supports that individual, working together we can improve the educational opportunities for Marysville students.

Fun fact: Performs magic tricks.
