Right-of-way rules don’t need marking

In the Dec. 24 article about pedestrians and crosswalks (“Crossing the street can demand courage), The Herald noted that (by state law) a pedestrian has the right-of-way at any marked crosswalk, whether at an intersection or in the middle of the block. That is true, but it’s also very important to note that an intersection need not be marked to be considered a crosswalk in Washington, and pedestrians have the same right-of-way there as at marked crosswalks.
