Boeing CEO Harry Stonecipher covered a lot of topics in Wednesday’s conference call with analysts and reporters. Among other things he:
* Expressed some frustration with the drawn-out negotiations to sell Boeing’s Wichita commercial airplanes operation. He said negotiators are telling him the deal will be signed in 10 to 20 days, but he’s also reaching “my point of disinterest,” and if things drag on much longer, he could pull the plug on the sale.
* Said he was pleased with the EU-US talks so far on aerospace subsidies. “Launch aid has stopped” — if only temporarily.
* Said Airbus will likely stay ahead of Boeing on orders and deliveries for the next two years or so.
* Boeing could land some more orders for the 717, even though it has announced plans to end production in 2006.
