Privately owned Bangkok Airlines wants to expand, and it wants long-range midsize jets — like the 787 or A350 — to do it, the Bangkok Post reports. But the airline wants to expand quickly, before those planes are in the market.

Key Quote: “Toward the end of the year, the airline will decide whether to add either the A350 or Boeing 787 … A crucial factor will be the manufacturer’s ability to supply two medium-sized aircraft of existing models to Bangkok Airways next year to enable it to begin longer-haul routes, before these two new generation jetliners roll out … That means Boeing will need to provide its 767 model while Airbus will have to supply two A330s to the Thai carrier.”
