Chips are down

I haven’t been following this whole did-Boeing-sell-illegal-chips-to-China thing closely, mostly because it’s an issue with 737s, which are built in Renton, and we’re The Herald of EVERETT. But I thought this Dow Jones story was interesting.

Key Quote 1: “‘We did have the same issue as Boeing, but we went through a great deal of expense to play by the rules,’ said Airbus spokeswoman MaryAnne Greczyn.”

Key Quote 2: “‘We had the same gyro in our S (model), and we went through the same, excuse the pun, gyration, and actually put in an alternate gyro that was acceptable to the State Department,’ said Jeff Pino, Sikorsky’s senior vice president for marketing and commercial programs.”
