Greetings from the Big Boeing Blogfest

OK,we’re flying around over eastern Oregon at the moment … I can see Mt Hood off to the west … and that’s pretty cool. (Not quite as cool as our Mt. Rainier flyby, which was so close we could see some climbers.)

OK, blogging from the sky is kind of a pain for those of us who don’t use laptops regularly, but otherwise, it seems to work just fine. All the “real” bloggers are happily Instant Messaging their friends.

But I’ve got news: Singapore International Airlines will roll out the first Connexion by Boeing television service in a few hours (Wednesday morning their time). The airline will offer four TV channel streamed to your laptop in your seat. I’ve been watching a demo of it — live CNBC — and it works pretty well up here in the sky.

The goal, of course, is to compete with the DirectTV satellite service offered on airlines like Frontier and JetBlue.

Flying over the Blue Mountains now … looks like a forest fire down there.
