Airbus pushes A380 as low-fare vehicle

The Australian newspaper reports that Airbus is working to certify the A380 to carry up to 857 passengers in an all-economy-class configuration, and is pitching the plane to low-fare carriers.

Key Quote (from the story I’m shamelessly stealing from Leeham Co.’s Scott Hamilton): “Emirates president Tim Clark has theorised that an all-economy Airbus flying 760 seats from a secondary airport such as Stansted in London to Adelaide could deliver fares as low as $US600 ($780) return.”
