A test of the industry’s metal

And how ‘bout them Seahawks, eh?

Here’s one of those “I wish I had moved on that sooner” stories. Steve Wilhelm at the Puget Sound Business Journal reports http://msnbc.msn.com/id/10873962/ that increasing demand for aerospace-quality titanium and aluminum is creating shortages.

Key Quote: “Aerospace-grade metal distributors in the state say the price of titanium has increased fivefold or more in the past 18 months, while the price of aircraft-grade steel has doubled and aluminum is up nearly 25 percent. And order times for titanium stock have doubled, to as long as a year, meaning that Boeing suppliers that haven’t planned ahead may get in trouble.”

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, here at The Herald we’re honoring Dr. King and his works by … working.
