Book work: “The Essential Garden Maintenance Workbook” would feel right at home smudged with dirt, dog-eared and open on a potting shed bench.
The book, written by veteran English garden designer and lecturer Rosemary Alexander, is a practical guide for renovating an existing a garden or creating a new one.
In clear language Alexander addresses a range of gardening tasks such as how and when to properly prune an overgrown shrub or install a new lawn. She draws on her experience as a designer to discuss aesthetic concerns too.
She uses photos and examples from her own renovation project of a farmhouse garden. The 384-page book contains line drawings and color photos. The book costs $34.95 and is published by Timber Press.
