Coinciding with the completion of work to bring natural gas to the Everett region, Mayor George Culmback proclaimed the week of Oct. 21-27 to be National Gas Week for Everett. Businesses advertising natural gas or appliances were Tingstad’s, Rucker Avenue Plumbing, Haskell’s, Peterson’s, Hellenthal’s, Angel &Nelson, Holland Furnace, Thorpe’s, Erickson Bros., City Fuel, Slingerlend, Pedigo, Commercial Sheet Metal Works, Sager’s, Holmstad’s, Brown the Plumber and Callahan.
25 years ago (1981)
Two home-building companies showed their sense of humor during tough times in the home-building industry. Brien Stafford of Stafford Hansell Co. of Lynnwood and Larry Sundquist of Sundquist Homes of Bothell collaborated to share back-to-back sides of a sign on the Bothell-Everett Highway near Thrashers Corner. Each claimed to build better homes than its competitor.
