Arlington
Garden workshop set for Saturday
Certified Professional Horticulturist Michelle Clark is scheduled to lead a workshop titled “Putting your Garden to Bed for the Winter” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the community room at the Boys &Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. N.E.
The Arlington Garden Club is sponsoring the event. A $2 donation is requested.

Fire district plans budget meeting
A special meeting of fire commissioners and fire board representatives of Darrington Fire District 24 is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Fire Station 39. The agenda calls for the groups to discuss 2007 budget and goals.
Edmonds
Design board seeks to fill seat
Edmonds has an opening on its Architectural Design Board.
For this position, the city is looking for someone with expertise in landscape architecture or design.
The board serves as an advisory panel to the City Council on proposed multiple-family and commercial developments. Board members need not live within the city limits.

Everett
Senior center holds dance
The Everett Senior Center will hold a free dance to honor veterans from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at 3025 Lombard Ave.
The Moonlight Swing Orchestra is scheduled to play, and refreshments and WWII-era uniforms and clothes will be on display.
Among the performers are dancers from Oly’s at the Dorothy Jayne Studio, singers from Northwest Savoyards, the senior center’s “Sunshine Singer” and old-time USO singers.
All veterans are welcome to attend and can drop in for an hour or two at any time.
The Senior Center staff decided to put on the dance because many members of the senior center served in the armed forces during that time and have fond memories of USO activities.
Imagine museum to thank veterans
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Imagine Children’s Museum, 1502 Wall St., will allow children to write the name of a family member or friend who is a military veteran on a square that will be attached to a wall honoring veterans.

Parents can learn about teen suicide
Cascade and Henry M. Jackson high schools hold the next session in their monthly series of parent workshops, “Depression and Suicide Prevention,” on Monday.
The event will be at Jackson High’s library, 1508 136th St. SE, Mill Creek.
A light dinner will be offered at 6:30 p.m. The program will follow at 7 p.m. Both are free.
Lake Stevens
Park board gets new member
The City Council on Monday approved Kevin Watson to the Park Board.
Watson, a resident in the area since 2002, said he is interested in outdoor recreation and community activities.
Watson’s term expires in December 2008.
Lynnwood
Alderwood Water marks 75 years
The Alderwood Water and Wastewater District plans to celebrate its 75th anniversary with a series of coffee hours next week.
Visitors will be able to see original wooden pipelines, old engineering tools, photos of installation of early water and sewer mains and modern computerized mapping techniques.
The coffee hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at district headquarters, 3626 156th St. SW.

Party recognizes 50 years of service
The Marysville Kiwanis Club is planning a 50th anniversary celebration from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at Ken Baxter Senior Center, 514 Delta Ave.
The local charitable group is scheduled to recognize 50-year member Ray Harding.
Monroe
Mobile dental office at hospital
The Washington Dental Service Foundation SmileMobile plans to come to Valley General Hospital, 14701 179th Ave. SE Dec. 4-15.
The SmileMobile, a dental office on wheels, brings oral health services year-round to children from limited-income families who would not otherwise have access to needed dentistry.
Services range from examinations and preventive care to fillings and minor oral surgery; all of the services are provided free or for a small fee.

Mukilteo
Student art show coming up
A student art show is planned for Dec. 5 to Jan. 15 at the Mukilteo Art Centre, 724 First St.
An opening reception is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the center. Refreshments will be served.
Paintings, sculptures and drawings by students from kindergarten through 12th grade are planned for the show.

Garden club holds monthly meeting
The Snohomish Garden Club plans to hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the Snohomish High School Cafeteria, 1316 Fifth St. This meeting is open to the public. There is a $5 fee for nonmembers.
The club plans a silent auction to raise funds for its various commitments to the Snohomish community: hanging baskets, scholarships, and grants to local schools and organizations.
