Local Machinists elected Tom Wroblewski as district president just after 12:30 this morning.

Wroblewski, 52, will represent more than 20,000 Puget Sound area members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in contract negotiations next year with the Boeing Co. He replaces Mark Blondin, who accepted a promotion earlier this year with the union.

With 2,914 votes, Wroblewski edged out Clifton Wyatt, who received 2,346 votes.

Wroblewski joined the labor group in 1976 and has served for 14 years as district business representative and grievance coordinator. Wyatt, 56, serves as president of the local A lodge, representing half the district’s members, and has been a member of the Machinists since 1988.
