Weird news of the day

Since leaving the Boeing Co., Alan Mulally has made his share of news as the chief executive of Ford Motor Co.
A few memorable examples:
*Mulally received roughly $39.1 million in compensation for his four months at Ford last year though the company lost $12.7 billion in 2006 (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/04/06/100bus_briefs001.cfm).
* The new CEO hit the sales floor at California Ford dealership (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/03/31/100bus_mulally001.cfm).
* And, he brought back the Taurus? (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/02/08/100bus_taurus001.cfm).
The former chief of Boeing Commercial Airplanes most recently made news by his visit with Pres. George Bush. Mulally was at the White House to show off Ford’s hydrogen-electric plug-in hybrid car. According to the Detroit News, Mulally thought Bush might make the explosive mistake of trying to plug the electrical cord into the car’s hydrogen tank and intervened.
The original story surfaced on Saturday (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007704070338). Since then, readers and bloggers (http://www.sports.autoblog.com/2007/04/09/alan-mulally-super-hero-ford-ceo-saves-president-bushs-life/) alike have weighed in. Some call Mulally a hero, others say the “liberal” media is insulting the President’s intelligence, still others question Ford’s hybrid design. You be the judge.
