EDMONDS – A candle inside a bedroom closet likely was responsible for a fire Friday that caused about $30,000 in damage to a home.

The fire broke out just before 5 a.m. at a house in the 4700 block of Picnic Point Road.

A woman, who attempted to put the fire out, was taken to a local hospital, Snohomish County Fire District 1 Leslie Hynes said.

Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted two people who live in the house with temporary lodging.
