So the rookies decided to extend their stay as long as possible as the Green vs. White game went to a shootout that lasted an epic 14 rounds. Leeland Malkinson finally ended it with the 28th attempt of the shootout, putting a shot into the top-right corner to give Team White a 2-1 victory in the shootout and thus a 4-3 win overall.

Byron Froese, Carter Page and Markus McCrae scored goals in regulation for Team White. In goal,John Paul Chapman was unscored upon during his 30 minutes and Brett Gagnon turned away 13 attempts in the shootout.

Devan McLean scored twice and Paul Grenier had a goal and an assist for Team Green, which reovered from a 3-1 deficit with 10 minutes remaining (McLean scoring both goals to tie it, though the second one may have been touched by Grenier). Kent Simpson gave up one goal during his 30 minutes in net.

The game was missing some of its flair as several of the top players — Kellan Tochkin, Brett Chartier, Paul Sohor — were rested in anticipation of the start of main camp tomorrow. Also on the sidelines was Gabriel Minville, who took a beating at the hands of Cameron Abney during a fight late in Satuday night’s scrimmage. Minville’s face was pretty beat up, but other than the way he looked he seemed fine, and he said things had improved from the previous night.

Meanwhile, those who did play appeared a bit worn down after a heavy workload this week. But though not at their sharpest, the players still managed to find a way to give the fans their entertainment value.
