50 years ago (1957)

Yell and song leaders for the new school year were selected at North Junior High School. Successful in their bid to become cheerleaders were Carol Deterling, Carol Larsen, Darlene Leonard and Andreanna Raptis. Maureen Dolan, Cherie Krekow, Andrea Maguire, Sharon Smith and Marilyn West­over were chosen song leaders.

The Royal Neighbors Lodge of Mukilteo turned its hall over to the city for use as a community center. Built in the early 1920s on land donated by the Crown Lumber Co., construction of the hall was turned over to the Royal Neighbors, a women’s organization, as it was the only organization in town then.

25 years ago (1982)

Claiming a first for Snoho­mish County, Joanne Terpstra of Arlington, an employee of Dogs World in Everett, and Clarice Plunkett, who operated her own Clarice’s Grooming in Everett, earned certification by the national organization, Professional Pet Groomers Certification Inc.
