MARYSVILLE — Four families were displaced Tuesday after a fire burned one apartment and damaged three others. No injuries were reported.

The fire in the Parkview Apartments, 4720 67th St. NE, broke out in one of the apartments about 7:15 p.m., Marysville Fire District spokeswoman Stephanie Price said. The fire spread to the attic and sent smoke through the three other units in the four-unit building before it was contained.

The residents of the two-story, townhome-style apartments evacuated safely, Price said. The Red Cross of Snohomish County was assisting the residents with food and lodging, she said.

The upstairs bedroom of the apartment in which the fire appeared to start was the most heavily damaged, though the backside wall of the ground floor also was burned, Price said.

A damage estimate was not available late Tuesday. The Snohomish County fire marshal was investigating the cause of the blaze.

Conway: Lynnwood man hurt in accident

A Lynnwood man was in serious condition Tuesday after a motorcycle accident Sunday evening in Skagit County.

The man was traveling west on his motorcycle on Highway 534 near Conway about 8:30 p.m. when his motorcycle collided with a Honda Accord being driven eastbound by a 17-year-old Mount Vernon boy, according to the Washington State Patrol. The boy was not injured.

The collision occurred when the boy turned left toward an onramp to northbound I-5, failing to yield the right-of-way to the westbound motorcycle, according to the State Patrol.

The Lynnwood man was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was being treated in the intensive care unit Tuesday.

The incident marked the second involving a motorcycle within a week in Skagit County.

On Saturday, Brian Dean Schmidt, 47, of Everett died in a single-motorcycle accident in northwest Skagit County.

Glacier: Hiking death victim from Everett

A woman who died while hiking Saturday near Mount Baker has been identified by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office as Joan Albro, 46, of Everett.

Albro had worked as a physician’s assistant for Everett Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Associates since May 1998.

She was reported missing just before 3 p.m. Saturday on Heliotrope Ridge Trail. Her body was later found near the base of a 50-foot waterfall. It appeared she had slipped on a rock above the waterfall, according to a sheriff’s office report.
