Seahawks just might be OK — or even better

Seahawks got you screaming? Did the Steelers game toss you off the bandwagon? Think Shaun Alexander’s done? Did Mack Strong’s retirement and Deion Branch’s foot sprain make you see the window of opportunity with this group slamming shut?
Wait a minute.
Look at the schedule. I see little reason why the Seahawks — yes, those old, slow, beaten-up downtrodden Seahawks — can’t win at least the next six and be 9-2.
Yes, 9-2. Maybe win the next seven and get to 10-2. Maybe even more.
No, I haven’t been drinking. Check this out.
They’ve got winless New Orleans at home Sunday. Then it’s St. Louis at home, a bye, at Cleveland, the 49ers and Bears here and at St. Louis. Want more? After that, it’s at Philadephia and Arizona here.
Is that a soft sked or WHAT?
I’ll show you how soft. The next six opponents are a combined 6-23. Even the mighty Bears are struggling — and the Seahawks get the Bears at home, where they play much, much better. They have to be favored.
Look even farther down the road. The Eagles are 1-3. Then comes Arizona to Qwest Field. See anything unwinnable? I don’t.
The only teams the Seahawks have left with winning records are Arizona and Carolina, both 3-2. Last come the Falcons at 1-4.
I’m not saying that this is a team bound for the Super Bowl, but the door is open for the Seahawks, as flawed as they might be, to make a run, gain some momentum and confidence and go into the playoffs feeling pretty good about themselves.
And anything can happen in the playoffs.
So don’t bail yet. It still could be pretty fun around here.
