FEDERAL WAY — Lorne Bridgford had 34 carries for 257 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-wining run with no time remaining on the clock, to lead Cascade to a 27-21 victory over Federal Way in a winner-to-state quad-district playoff Saturday at Federal Way Stadium.

Cascade plays Eastlake in the opening round of the state playoffs next week.

With the score tied and time running out, Cascade drove inside Federal Way’s 20-yard line to attempt a game-wining field goal with two seconds to go. The kick sailed wide right and time expired, but Federal Way was flagged for roughing the kicker, giving Cascade one last play.

When Federal Way was flagged for offsides, advancing the ball to the 1/2-yard line, Cascade scrapped plans for another field goal attempt and handed off to Bridgford.

Bruin quarterback Aaron Frye was 7-for-11 for 85 yards with one touchdown.
