Lynnwood: Man hurt in fire at apartment

A fire at a Lynnwood apartment complex injured one man Thursday.

The fire began around 4 p.m. in the back bedroom of a two-bedroom unit at Lynn Haven Apartments, on the corner of 208th Street SW and 70th Avenue W.

The tenant tried to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher, and someone walking by joined in and helped, according to Lt. Jason Turner of the Lynnwood Fire Department.

“When we arrived, we were able to use a very small amount of water to put out the remainder of the fire,” he said.

The apartment’s tenant was taken to Stevens Hospital in Edmonds for smoke inhalation. No one else was injured.

Due to smoke and fire damage, the tenant plans to stay with a family member until repairs are made, Turner said.

The rest of the apartments in the eight-unit, two-story complex escaped damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
