Seniors invited to free dinner
The annual Everett Firefighters’ Association Thanksgiving dinner is planned for noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Senior Center, 3025 Lombard St.
The group plans on serving up to 600 free dinners.

Human rights agency to meet
The Washington State Human Rights Commission plans to meet at 9 a.m. Friday at the Snohomish Fire District Education Annex, 1525 Ave. D, Snohomish.
The mission of the Washington State Human Rights Commission is to prevent and eliminate discrimination through the fair application of the law, the efficient use of resources and the establishment of productive partnerships with the community.
Interested people can attend and address the commissioners.
Benefit tonight for Oak Harbor woman
A benefit is planned for Oak Harbor resident Laura Evans at 8 tonight at Swinomish Northern Lights Casino, 12885 Casino Drive, Anacortes.
Enjoy the comedy of Duane Goad and a Rock and Roll Hypnosis show with Ron Stubbs.
Tickets are $20.
Evans has brain cancer. She has two children in their 20s and two autistic teenagers.
When she was approached about having a benefit in her honor, she said, “What can I do?” This is a question her friends say Evans has always asked, even before she was sick.

Federal grants open to nonprofits
Nonprofit and government organizations in Snohomish County are invited to apply for a federal grant program through which they can offer emergency food, shelter, utility and rent or mortgage assistance.
Letters of intent to apply are due by 4:45 p.m. Friday, and applications are due by 4:45 p.m. Nov. 30. They should be submitted to the Emergency Food and Shelter Program board chairwoman, Mary Anne Dillon, at 3301 Broadway, Everett.
