Donate sweaters in Mr. Rogers’ name
Through Dec. 14, bring slightly used or new sweaters to The Herald lobby for the Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive.
Children’s television star Fred Rogers died Feb. 27, 2003, of stomach cancer.

History for sale for the holidays
The Marysville Historical Society has a book, a DVD and a calendar for sale for the holidays.
The 104-page book, “Voices of the Past,” includes diary writings of pioneers and historical photos. It sells for $20.
The DVD, “The Place Where It All Began,” is an hourlong documentary of Marysville’s history, featuring photos from several local historical collections. It also costs $20.
The 2008 calendar features a historical photo of a pioneer family each month. The calendar sells for $10.
Proceeds benefit the Marysville Historical Society, which is building a new museum.

Mill Creek: Stories, songs for kids
Preschool-age children can learn basic reading skills at an event being planned at the Mill Creek Library.
The event, Preschool Ready Readers, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the library at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway. The program is intended for children ages 3 to 5.
Activities are expected to include stories, songs and finger plays. The event is scheduled to be repeated Dec. 4.

Food bank needs donations
As the holidays approach, the Sky Valley Food Bank is seeking donations to serve those in need in the community. The food bank distributes food for about 30,000 meals each month to people in the community. The demand for food grows during the holiday season.
People may send their donations to: Sky Valley Food Bank, P.O. Box 724, Monroe, WA 98272. They can also bring donations to the food bank at 233 Sky River Parkway.
