Historic Snohomish ornament available
The fourth in an annual series of historic Snohomish homes painted on ornaments is available.
This year’s “Snohomish Ornament” pictures the Hensel House at 422 Ave. B, and the proceeds from the sale of the ornaments benefit the Snohomish Historical Society. The glass ornaments are hand painted in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and shipped by mail, with each bulb nestled in its own handmade mini-crate.
They cost $25 and may be purchased at Kusler’s at 700 Ave. D in Snohomish.
Tree lighting in Mill Creek
The annual tree-lighting ceremony in Mill Creek is planned from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 15728 Main St.
Get college info in Monroe
Everett Community College’s Monroe branch campus offers a Getting Started Information and Advising session at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Monroe High School, 1 High School Drive in Monroe.
Placement testing is at 4 p.m. Drop-in advising is from 4 to 7 p.m. Advisers can answer questions about financial aid and other needs.
“Students don’t have to leave east Snohomish County to earn a university transfer degree, learn English, complete high school or prepare for the GED,” EvCC East County Director Sheila Dunn said.
The college’s east county branch serves more than 200 students per quarter, with classes offered in the late afternoon and evenings.
The satellite campus at Monroe High School also offers a distance learning and support computer lab Monday through Thursday evenings for EvCC students, including students who want to take EvCC online classes who don’t have computers at home.
A community computer lab is open at Park Place Middle School from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. The lab offers a computer-based Spanish literacy program, high-speed Internet access and assistance from EvCC instructors.
Veterans to meet in Oak Harbor
The board of Island County Commissioners plans to talk with veterans at a Town Hall meeting at 6:30 tonight at the American Legion, 690 SE Barrington Drive, Oak Harbor.
The talk is about statewide issues and how problems can be addressed.
