Who gets the kids for Christmas?
The Volunteers of America Dispute Resolution Center offers free holiday mediation sessions for parents who are having difficulty deciding whose home the children will be visiting during the holiday season.

Special party at the Elks
Everett Elks No. 479 offers its annual Christmas party for the community’s developmentally disabled at 1 p.m. Dec. 9 at Normanna Hall, 2725 Oakes Ave. in Everett.
The three-hour party will include dancing, singing, socializing and refreshments provided by Everett Emblem Club 523.
As always, Santa will make a special appearance.

Snowflakes teach the alphabet
The author of an interactive children’s book plans to meet with readers at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. in Mukilteo.
The free event is for children ages 5 to 11.
Author Will Howell is planning to talk about the concept behind his book “Zooflakes,” which uses paper-cut snowflakes to help teach kids about the alphabet.
Snohomish seniors serve breakfast
The Snohomish Senior Center and volunteers from the community are set to cook and serve breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1514 Pine Ave. in Snohomish.
The breakfast includes pancakes, waffles, French toast, eggs, biscuits and gravy, ham and sausage, and juice and coffee or tea. The cost is $4 for adults and $3 for children.
Proceeds from this event help support the 45 programs and services offered at the senior center.
