Buy Boeing, 787 outlook good

Morgan Stanley is advising investors to snatch up Boeing stock before the aerospace company holds its 787 update call Dec. 11, according to a report out today.

“We’d be heavy buyers into the 787 update call with new program leader Pat Shanahan as the program is progressing on track or better, and the debate is whether to move the first flight earlier,” the firm said. “Pre-FAA certification airplanes are unlikely to need vast re-work; planes are heavier to de-risk flight test findings.”

Boeing’s Scott Carson previously has said the 787’s first flight would take place by the end of March 2008. The company pushed first delivery of the 787 back by six months to November or December.
