EVERETT — Everett police are warning people to be on the lookout for a man posing as a charity volunteer who is believed to be a scammer.
The man has been going door-to-door in the Silver Lake area asking for donations to Operation Lookout and the National Center for Missing Youth, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. At least three people have fallen for the scam.
Operation Lookout, a nonprofit, does not use door-to-door solicitors, Goetz said. The man is not a legitimate fundraiser.
Someone from Operation Lookout called police after they received complaints, Goetz said.
The man is described as white, 35 to 45 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 185 pounds. He has bad teeth, and usually wears a red baseball cap and an orange reflective vest.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Everett Police Department customer service unit at 425-257-7490 or the tip line at 425-257–8540.
Monroe: Man, 20, hurt in fight over girl
A fight about a girlfriend Friday evening near the Fred Meyer store on U.S. 2 in Monroe sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
The man, 20, was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a head injury, said Debbie Willis, a Monroe city spokeswoman.
The fight happened at about 6 p.m., she said.
Witnesses told police they saw two men approach the victim in the store’s parking lot. The men ran off after the fight, Willis said.
“They all know each other and it was a fight over a girlfriend,” Willis said.
Police arrested a Monroe man, 19, on Saturday, she said. The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree assault.
