AirAsia signed a deal with Airbus today for 25 A320 jets. The deal pushes AirAsia Group’s total A320 orders to 175. AirAsia Group includes Malaysia Air Asia, Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia.

Airbus also is in talks with AirAsia X to order 25 A350 Extra Wide Body jets, reports Bloomberg. The Malaysia-based carrier, with ties to Virgin Group’s Sir Richard Branson, has said it’s considering ordering either 50 A350s or Boeing 787s.

The European jet maker additionally hopes to sell more A380 super jumbo jets to Malaysia Air.

All this just a day after Airbus made news by saying it plans to source 5 percent of its A350 components with Japanese suppliers. Boeing already partners with Japanese companies for several major 787 Dreamliner structures.
